Pipeline
CI builds a release when a pull request merges and deploys it to the shop. Each deploy is recorded with an id, the service, the new and previous version, the commit and its message, and who triggered it (ci-bot for CI).
Reading deploy history during an incident
- Order by time and find the last deploy of each service.
- Read the commit message: it says which area of the code changed.
- A deploy matters when its timing lines up with the incident start and its change matches the error signature.
